16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and continues until December 10, Human Rights Day.

Mayor Jeff Leal issued the following statement in recognition of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

“This campaign calls attention to ending gender-based violence. Gender-based violence impacts individuals in every community, including our own. This is a time to raise awareness of its devastating effects, which harm people of all genders, with women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals experiencing violence at disproportionately higher rates.

"We honour the strength and resilience of survivors, and we stand in solidarity with all those affected and encourage everyone in our community to listen with empathy and to speak out against injustice. Over these 16 days, we unite globally to show our support and to help build a safer, more inclusive and equal community for all."
