Septic Systems
The City of Peterborough is now responsible for receiving and reviewing new septic applications.
This page provides important information regarding the requirements and process for obtaining a permit to repair, expand, or install a new septic system.
Application Requirements
To apply for a septic system building permit, you will need to submit the following:
- A completed Application Form (including Schedule 2: Septic Installer form)
- A site plan showing all existing and proposed structures, septic components, and setbacks from lot lines, wells, and water sources
- Any additional applicable forms
Please submit your completed application package to residentialpermits@peterborough.ca.
Submission Guidelines
Septic permit applications must be submitted either prior to or alongside permit applications for new dwellings, additions/renovations, or replacements. This ensures that the septic system approval process aligns with your building permit application.
