Treaties Recognition Week, which takes place November 3 to November 9 in Ontario, is an opportunity to learn about the more than 40 Treaties and agreements that define the rights, responsibilities and relationships between First Nations and the federal and provincial governments.

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement on Treaties Recognition Week:

“Treaties Recognition Week is an important opportunity to deepen our understanding of the treaties that are the foundation of our shared history, guiding us toward cooperation and reconciliation. I would encourage everyone in our community to learn more about the treaties that impact this land and to participate actively in building a future rooted in mutual respect and collaboration."
