Peterborough, ON - A survey on a draft City of Peterborough Transportation Master Plan vision statement is now open as part of the second round of community consultation for the project.

Through the survey, the City is seeking input on the draft vision and evaluation criteria that will form the foundation of the Transportation Master Plan, which will guide the long-range future of City-wide transportation. The survey will remain open until January 15, 2021.

The survey is available online at

The goal of the vision statement is to reflect the community’s view of its transportation system in 20 years. Based on input to the Transportation Master Plan so far, the following Vision Statement has been drafted:

“Peterborough moves safely, sustainably, and reliably.”

“The transportation network for the City of Peterborough is safe, affordable, and reliable to support the health and well-being of our growing community. Our focus is to be efficient, innovative and responsive while embracing a more sustainable future to achieve our climate change objectives.”

The Connect Peterborough site has information from the first round of public engagement in September/October 2020 and information relating to milestones and key dates of the Transportation Master Plan. Additionally, residents can access the project “Frequently Asked Questions: and register to receive project updates.

“Please consider getting involved. Sign up to be on the distribution list for the project at Connect Peterborough and receive notifications about public engagement opportunities,” encouraged Councillor Kemi Akapo, chair of the City’s transportation portfolio.

“We want and need your help to shape this plan to make sure that it reflects the needs, opinions and interests of those who live, work and play within the City,” said Councillor Don Vassiliadis, co-chair of the City’s transportation portfolio.

Public Consultation will play a key role in the development of new Transportation Master Plan. During each of the 5 phases of the project there will be opportunities for the project team to share information on the status of work completed to-date, and for residents to provide feedback to assist in developing the plan. Residents who register on the Connect Peterborough website will be sent notices of future engagement opportunities.
