Transit service update - effective November 1, 2020

Peterborough Transit is responding to growing ridership and expected increased demand over of the holiday season with certain service enhancements starting Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Also beginning Sunday, November 1, 2020, Peterborough Transit is starting a pilot expansion of its Trans Cab program to enhance transit service in the southeast area of the City.

Peterborough Transit service changes effective Sunday, November 1

  • Route 2 – Extra trips added on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to help with anticipated holiday shopping demands. Extra trips will operate in both directions between Lansdowne Place and Chemong Road at Towerhill Road following the normal route.
  • Route 7 – Fall and winter route change takes effect. Trent trips will now follow the Route 7 pattern (not 7A) and use Rogers Street and Maria Street, using the Maria Street bridge instead of Ashburnham Drive, Hunter Street, and the Lift Lock tunnel.
  • Route 7 – Extra morning 7B trip added on weekdays from Willowcreek Plaza at 7:50 a.m. to Fleming College to help with increased ridership.
  • Route 7 – Extra afternoon 7B trip added on weekdays from Fleming College at 2:15 p.m. to Willowcreek Plaza to help with increased ridership.

Pilot expansion of the Trans-Cab service area effective Sunday, November 1

Beginning Sunday, November 1, Peterborough Transit is pleased to launch a pilot Trans-Cab expansion to several streets west of Bensfort Road and east of Otonabee Drive.

The following streets and roads will now fall under the Trans-Cab program:

  • Denne Crescent
  • Collison Avenue
  • Collison Crescent
  • Riverview Heights
  • Maxwell Avenue
  • Barker Avenue
  • Sherin Avenue
  • Southpark Drive
  • Stewart Drive
  • Crystal Drive
  • Trailview Drive
  • Abound Crescent
  • Middlefield Road
  • Cornelius Court
  • St Patrick's Street
  • Finchurst Road
  • Sabatino Court

The Trans-Cab location will change at the start of service on Sunday, November 1 from Bensfort Road at Collison Avenue to the shelter on Otonabee Drive at Milford Gate.

Accessing the Trans-Cab service

For customers travelling to Otonabee Drive at Milford Gate using Trans Cab (to catch Route 7):

  1. Make sure you are in an area that is marked as a Trans-Cab zone.
  2. Dial 705-748-4443 at least an hour before you plan to arrive at a bus stop.
  3. A taxi will pick you up and take you to the nearest Trans-Cab stop (marked on the map as TC).

Note: The Trans-Cab fare is $3 which includes the taxi and bus portion of your trip. Please pay the cab driver.

To travel to your destination from Milford Gate using Trans-Cab (via Route 7):

  1. Board a bus on a route serviced by Trans-Cab.
  2. Advise the driver you need a Trans-Cab when you deposit the regular bus fare plus the $0.50 Trans-Cab fare.
  3. The driver will give you a transfer and radio for a cab, which will meet you at the Trans-Cab stop and drive you to your destination.

Please note: Due to high customer volumes, Trans-Cab cannot guarantee trips from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and from 2:15 p.m. 3:15 p.m., Monday to Friday.
