Peterborough, ON - With the re-paving and maintenance of Simcoe Street between George and Aylmer streets starting today, Peterborough Transit routes may be affected close to the terminal with all buses accessing the terminal from the east side at this stage of construction.

From August 4 to 9, 2020, all buses will be approaching the terminal from the east side – the side of the terminal that’s closest to George Street.

Route 6, which normally drops off and picks up customers curbside on Simcoe Street next to the terminal, is temporarily shifting to the terminal bays beside the Route 10 Technology Drive location. Signs are in place to direct customers.

During the Simcoe Street construction, the City expects to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction when possible and maintain local access to stores and properties by shifting traffic lanes as the construction progresses. There may be periods when traffic is reduced to a single lane – one-way traffic – with signed detour routes.

The work on Simcoe Street includes grinding and paving the road surface, installing or adjusting storm sewer grates, minor curb removal and putting in new curbs. The work is scheduled to be done by late September 2020.
