Quaker Foods City Square

Peterborough, ON – Enjoy a lap around the Quaker Foods City Square outdoor skating rink on Thursday, March 16 as this will be the last day the ice pad is open until next fall/winter with rain, warmer weather and lots of sunshine in the forecast over the next couple of weeks.

Quaker Foods City Square is a year-round community space near the corner of Charlotte and Aylmer streets with a refrigerated outdoor skating rink in the fall/winter and a space for community activities plus a water play feature in the spring/summer.

Peterborough is expected to receive up to 10 millimetres of rain on Friday, March 17, 2023, which will likely require the rink to be temporarily closed due to the weather, then over the following two weeks the forecast calls for daytime highs of about 5C with plenty of sunny days. The combination of warmer weather and sunny days will signal the end of the successful inaugural skating season at Quaker Foods City Square.

Please watch for signs posted at the City Square skating rink that will indicate if the rink is open for skating, closed due to maintenance, or closed for the season.

The City of Peterborough looks forward to Quaker Foods City Square’s first spring/summer as a community space. Updates on programs and events planned for Quaker Foods City Square will be posted at peterborough.ca/QuakerFoodsCitySquare. Information on how to get a permit to use the space for events is available at peterborough.ca/Events.

Quaker Foods City Square officially opened in December 2022 on Charlotte Street, just east of Aylmer Street, next to the King Street Parkade.
