Phase 2 of Brealey Drive Major Infrastructure Project Begins March 2025

Peterborough, ON – Brealey Drive will be closed from Sherbrooke Street to Mapleridge Drive, with maintained access for local traffic, at the end of March 2025 as Phase 2 of the Brealey Drive Major Infrastructure Project begins.
Crews are scheduled to begin site preparation work this week. The road will remain open during this time, with signals at Cherryhill Road and Brealey Drive being energized prior to the road closure being implemented.
Construction is set to be completed by fall 2025. The contract for the project was awarded to Behan Construction Limited in 2024.
The Brealey Drive Major Infrastructure Project started in spring 2024, with a pause in construction over the winter.
The reconstruction project includes replacing storm sewers, sanitary sewers and watermains, installations of new concrete curb and gutters and concrete sidewalks, installation of a new off-street multi-use trail and on-street cycling lanes, replacements of the roadway granular base and the asphalt roadway, restorations of boulevards, replacements of street lighting, signage, landscaping and pavement markings.
Existing trees and vegetation throughout the Brealey Drive corridor will be impacted during the work as required to support construction activities. Landscaping remediation work will take place when construction is complete.
Local residents should expect traffic delays while construction is underway.
