Buses in Simcoe Street Terminal

Peterborough Transit is taking additional measures to support physical distancing and community safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, including changing where people get on and off buses at the Simcoe Street bus terminal for the busiest routes, starting on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

Buses for Route #8 Monaghan and Route #7 Lansdowne will be stationed at the bus bay on Simcoe Street, where the Trent route buses normally pull into the terminal, to provide more space for passengers to wait while staying at least two metres apart.

Route #10 Collison buses will be at the east end of the terminal instead of their normal location in the bus bay area.

Security personnel and Transit supervisors will be available to assist customers with boarding.

Peterborough Transit takes the safety of customers, employees, and the community seriously. It asks that people limit their use of Peterborough Transit to essential trips only during the COVID-19 emergency.

As part of the previously implemented changes to support physical distancing and to help stop the spread of COVID-19:

  • customers are required to board buses using the rear doors, except for mobility customers, and fare is not required;
  • customers are asked to keep well back from bus drivers and to remain seated at all times; and
  • customers can expect to wait for another bus if seated passengers exceed 10 on a trip, exclusive of mobility spots.

Peterborough Transit appreciates the patience of customers as it takes steps to help protect the health of customers, employees, and the community.
