Peterborough, ON - Peterborough Transit is providing the Grade 8 Transit Quest program in partnership with GreenUp, encouraging students to use Peterborough Transit by providing them with a free transit pass for March Break from March 10 to March 19, 2023.
Grade 8 Transit Quest works to increase youth’s familiarity of the Peterborough Transit system as they begin to travel independently. By increasing comfort at this age, transit can become a mode of transportation that is both normal and accessible. Navigating their local transit service helps students build a life skill.
“This is a great program to encourage kids to get familiar with our transit routes,” said Councillor Keith Riel, Chair of the City’s transportation portfolio. “Transit is an ideal transportation option for students to get to part-time jobs, shopping or seeing friends across town.”
Peterborough elementary schools will be distributing the Grade 8 Transit Quest guide and transit pass this week. Ten destinations are featured in the Transit Quest guide, including the Sport and Wellness Centre, the Peterborough Public Library, the Museum and Archives and the Art Gallery of Peterborough. Participants are encouraged to post to social with #PTBOTransitQuest for a chance to win prizes.
