Peterborough, ON – The City of Peterborough is recognizing November 22 as National Housing Day, joining many other communities across Canada. National Housing Day is an opportunity to celebrate Canada’s National Housing Strategy and the progress Peterborough has made in implementing its Housing and Homelessness Plan.

"I am happy that Councillors Clarke and Riel will be bringing their knowledge and expertise to the renewed Housing Portfolio to take action and address the issues of housing and homelessness in our community," said Mayor Diane Therrien. "The City has also formed a Housing Action Task Force to engage the community and work with public, private, and non-profit partners to move innovative projects forward."

With a focus on directing resources to people in greatest need first, the City is prioritizing the most vulnerable people in our community. The City of Peterborough is responsible for housing and homelessness services in the City and County. The City is committed to ending homelessness and ensuring that there is enough housing that people can afford.
