Peterborough Ash and Oak Lumber Sale

Peterborough - The City of Peterborough will hold a public sale of lumber reclaimed from ash and oak trees grown in the City. The sale takes place Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17, 2019, while supplies last.

“The sale is intended to broaden the range of urban forest management from seed to sawdust,” remarked Paul Hambidge, urban forestry manager. “Our urban forest has incredible value throughout its lifecycle.”

Location: Waste Water Treatment Facility, 425 Kennedy Rd., Peterborough (Building 25, first turn right on entry to the Waste Water Treatment Facility)

Date: July 16 and 17, 2019

Time: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

 The sawmilled and seasoned boards are of varying quality and available in various widths, lengths and thicknesses. All of the oak and some of the ash boards are live-edge. All boards are priced based on size.

 Ash boards:

  • approximately 8 feet long, between 8 and 16 inches wide and are 1, 2 or 3 inches thick
  • prices are between $15 and $35 each 

Bur oak boards:

  • either 7 feet or 11 feet, 6 inches long, approximately 3 feet to 3 feet 6 inches wide, and 3 or 4 inches thick.
  • prices are $150 or $300 each

All lumber will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot reserve any of the wood in advance of the sale and the buyer will be responsible for loading all purchases into their own vehicle and removing the wood at the time of the sale. Please note that the oak boards are extremely heavy.
