Parking and road closure information – Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade

Peterborough Santa Claus Parade participants

Please keep in mind the following parking and road closure information with Santa Claus coming to town for the parade on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

  • George Street between Brock Street and Parkhill Road will be closed starting at 3:30 p.m. to allow the floats to assemble.
  • No parking on George Street between McDonnel and Prince streets after 3 p.m. There will be special event signs posted ahead of the parade to let people know of the parking restrictions. Any vehicles left on the section of George Street after 3 p.m. may be towed to the parking lot at 250 Reid St. As alternatives to parking on the street, there are off-street parking lots at:
    • 184 Hunter St. W.
    • 250 Reid St.
    • 190 Simcoe St.
    • 202 King St.
    • 70 Simcoe St.
    • 210 Wolfe St.
  • There will be a rolling road closure on George Street from McDonnel Street to Prince Street starting at 4:45 p.m., which means the road closure will gradually move to different sections of George Street matching the movement of the parade, subject to police directing traffic.

There will be event staff along the parade route to let people know about the parade and parking restrictions.

Peterborough Petes game at the Peterborough Memorial Centre

The Peterborough Petes play the Kingston Frontenacs starting at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

With the Santa Claus parade affecting traffic in the area, people going to the game are encouraged to arrive early with paid parking opening at 4 p.m. and the arena doors opening at 5 p.m.
