The City of Peterborough’s Planning Division is hosting a four-day Community Design
Charrette this week from Monday, June 4th to Thursday, June 7th as part of the Official Plan
Update process. A Design Charrette is a collaborative design exercise and its objective is to
establish a vision for built form (such as density, height, and building types), streetscapes, and
green and public spaces.
Public Open House sessions will be hosted in the evenings to display the outcomes of the
Design Charrette. Residents and other interested parties are invited to attend the evening
Open Houses and provide feedback on the outcomes of the Design Charrette.
Public Open House details are as follows:
Dates:Monday June 4th, 2018 to Thursday June 7th, 2018 inclusive
Time: Drop-in anytime between 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Location: Peterborough Square, Lower Level
340 George Street North, Peterborough
The Design Charrette will establish a design framework for how Downtown Peterborough
along with six corridors and eight nodes, which have been identified on major City streets,
should develop in the future. The results of the Design Charrette will be used to inform
architectural and urban design guidelines and will be incorporated into the City’s updated
Official Plan.
Representatives from various organizations and community groups have been invited to
participate in the Design Charrette alongside planners, architects and landscape architects to
translate the public comments and feedback from previous community engagement activities
from the Official Plan update process into a proposed design framework.
