The City of Peterborough will host an open house at the McDonnel Street Community Centre at 577 McDonnel St. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 to spotlight the newly acquired facility and showcase the adult leisure programs planned for the centre. 

Date: Wednesday, November 22, 2023 

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Location: McDonnel Street Community Centre, 577 McDonnel St. 

Everyone is invited to drop-in to see the facility. Recreation and Parks staff will be offering facility tours, showing room set-ups for facility bookings and discussing some of the adult leisure programs planned for the facility. 

Light refreshments will be served.

Background 

The City acquired the McDonnel Street Community Centre in August 2023. 

The multi-use facility has been accepting facility rentals and offering drop-in adult programs since September. The facility also provides office space for Recreation and Parks staff. 

Facility Highlights 

McDonnel Street Community Centre has the following spaces available for facility rental: 

Banquet Room 

The banquet room has access to an industrial kitchen and bar, and has seating for up to 150 people depending on table and chair set up. Amenities include: 

  • Accessible space with elevator 

  • Access to large veranda 

  • Built-in dance floor 

  • Projector and screen with access to Wifi 

  • Large washrooms 

  • Options for room set up include: 

    • Round table banquet style with 80 to 100 guests 

    • Rectangular table banquet style with 80 to 100 guests 

    • Classroom style, with 40 to 50 guests, 2 per table 

    • Lecture style, with 120 of seats and no tables 

Games Room 

The lower-level games room houses dart boards, shuffleboard and multipurpose space suitable for cards, short mat bowling and various recreational programs. 

Meeting Rooms 

There are two multi-purpose meeting rooms available for rent by the community.
