City Council has approved sending a letter to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission to inform the commission that there are concerns in the community about the application from BWXT to allow uranium pelleting at its facility in Peterborough.
Peterborough Public Health has posted information on its website about the health effects of uranium and the BWXT licence renewal application.
Peterborough Public Health states that uranium is not a known carcinogen. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has not classified uranium as a carcinogen.
