Peterborough, ON – One Roof Community Center will reopen as a drop-in centre starting on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and be available seven days a week.

COVID-19 forced the closure of the drop-in service at One Roof in March to protect the health and safety of clients, volunteers, and staff. It also caused the cancellation of the supper meal and changed the lunch program to a take-away meal. The daily free take-away meal will continue to be provided from noon to 3 p.m.

People using the drop-in centre will be screened and need to observe standard safety measures including physical distancing, using hand sanitizer upon entry and exit of the building and wearing a face covering. Reusable, non-medical face coverings will be available for people at the Centre.

“The One Roof Community Centre delivers an important service to residents. I am pleased it’s able to safely reopen as a drop-in centre and continue to serve the community,” said Mayor Diane Therrien.

"We are happy to be working with the City of Peterborough and Public Health to find safe ways to operate a drop-in centre for our community. We are overjoyed to be able to open our doors daily and continue to serve a daily to-go meal safely. We are extremely grateful for everyone who has been gracious with us while we continue to find ways to operate during this hard time." said Sarah Fleming, Coordinator at One Roof.

One Roof also serves as a cooling centre during heat alerts. The Centre extends its hours to be open from 9 a.m. to noon along with its regular drop-in hours during heat alerts.
