Due to reduced transit ridership and the need ensure the health of patrons and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, Peterborough Transit is changing its service schedule on most routes to a slightly later start time and earlier end time, starting Tuesday, March 31, 2020. 

The service will operate every day on an enhanced Sunday service schedule from 8 a.m. to 7:20 p.m., including the #12 Major Bennett route. Trips on Technology Drive will continue to be offered Monday through Friday, except for Good Friday. 

Bus frequency on routes remains the same as regular 40-minute service. 

“The City has been taking progressive action to keep this important service operating for people in our community who rely on public transit for their essential outings during the COVID-19 emergency,” Commissioner of Infrastructure and Planning Services Cynthia Fletcher said. “This is another measure that preserves this important service while responding to the conditions of the COVID-19 emergency.” 

The service changes will be in place until further notice. 

Specialized service (Handivan) start times will remain unchanged. End of day service for the specialized service will be adjusted to finish at 7:20 p.m. 

The Community Bus will operate from 9 a.m. with service until 4:50 p.m., seven days a week. The service will also operate on Good Friday. 

The customer service area at the Simcoe Street bus terminal will be closed to the public effective 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
