Peterborough, ON – A public meeting to hear from officials and people affected by the opioid crisis is being hosted by Councillor Keith Riel and Councillor Gary Baldwin on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lions Centre, 347 Burnham St.

“This is a time for us to listen, learn and take action as a community,” Riel and Baldwin said in a joint statement. “With the upcoming presentations to City Council and the community symposium on the topic that Mayor Diane Therrien is helping to organize on July 11, this ward meeting provides another opportunity for people to engage on this critical matter for our community.”

Baldwin and Riel have invited Peterborough Police Service Deputy Chief Tim Farquharson and Peggy Shaughnessy, the founder of Whitepath Consulting that provides addictions services based on the RedPath model, to participate in the meeting alongside people affected by the opioid crisis.

The meeting is open to the public.
