City of Peterborough pay and display parking machines now have sponsored advertisements on pay and display parking receipts as part of a new sponsorship marketing initiative supporting program and service delivery.

Aitken Robertson Professional Corporation – Criminal Lawyers and Traffic Court Paralegals approached the City with interest to be the first sponsor on the City’s Pay and Display parking machine receipts.

“We are excited to partner with this community business,” Corporate Sponsorship Coordinator Scott Elliott said.

"The City of Peterborough should be commended for thinking outside the box and developing relationships with local businesses. A win-win result,”  commented Richard Aitken.

Sponsorship fees cover approximately $5,000 in costs to the City for purchasing parking receipt paper and printing in exchange for the advertising and promotional rights on the receipts. All 75 pay and display parking machines servicing surface lots and on-street parking in the City are loaded with these new receipts. Paper stocks are anticipated to last approximately three months. Assuming the program can be sold out for each 3-month term per year, this equates to $20,000 in annual revenue available to help offset program delivery costs.

There are about 900 public parking spaces for pay-and-display parking in downtown Peterborough.

“While this has been common in some other communities, sponsorship of parking services is a new way for local businesses in Peterborough to get their messages and brands in front of residents and visitors to the city,” Elliott said.
