Mayor Jeff Leal has released the following statement regarding Sikh Heritage Month:

“April is a time to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions Sikh Canadians have made to our community and our country.

"The Sikh community has long been a pillar of strength and generosity, embodying the values of seva (selfless service), equality, and justice. In Peterborough we are fortunate to have a thriving Sikh community that enriches our city through its cultural traditions, volunteerism, and commitment to building a more inclusive society. Sikh values reflect the best of what it means to be Canadian.

"On behalf of the City of Peterborough, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our Sikh friends and neighbors for their contributions. Let us all take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the incredible impact of Sikh heritage on our shared history.”
