Peterborough, ON – Applications are open for residents of the City of Peterborough who would like to serve on the City’s new Peterborough Environmental Advisory Committee.

“Anyone 16 years or older can be part of this. We would certainly love to have some young people involved in this committee,” Mayor Diane Therrien said, encouraging residents to apply to be on the committee. “And certainly, indigenous perspectives and traditional indigenous knowledge is going to be very important for this as well.”

The purpose of the Environmental Advisory Committee is to consider environmental matters related to larger City projects and initiatives identified by City Council or staff. The committee will also work to encourage activities in environmental matters, sustainability and climate change.

It is anticipated that the committee will meet monthly or on an as needed basis at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The application is available from the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 500 George St. N., or on the City of Peterborough website on the committees page at An interview may be required.
