The 2022 Waste Reduction and Conservation Calendar will be distributed to City residents inside the Peterborough This Week newspaper on Thursday, November 25, 2021.

The award-winning calendar features historic photographs of Peterborough again this year. The calendar provides important information and dates on how to prepare recyclables for curbside placement, how to register for large item pick-up, when the hazardous waste depot is open, how to get a new blue box or back yard composter and who to call for more information. Tips on other environmental initiatives related to water, trails and sustainability are also included.

“Peterborough is one of the leading municipalities in Ontario for waste diversion initiatives and we aren’t done yet. We have other programs under development, including our source separated organics (food) diversion program that is anticipated to launch the Fall of 2023.” said Councillor Gary Baldwin, Chair – Waste Management. “We’re also undertaking a review and update of our Waste Management Master Plan that will guide us forward for many years as we aim to achieve waste diversion targets that exceed 80% diversion.”

City residents who do not receive Peterborough This Week or didn’t receive their calendar may pick one up beginning Friday, November 26 at the following locations during hours of operation:

  • City Hall, 500 George St. N
  • GreenUP, 378 Alylmer St. N
  • Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 400 Pido Rd.

For more details or a digital copy of the calendar, residents are invited to visit the City’s website at www.peterborough.ca/waste or call 705-742-7777 ext.1657.
