The Peterborough Museum and Archives offers Wildcard Wednesdays throughout the summer. This is a single-day camp for children ages 7 to 11, and run on each Wednesday throughout the summer. There is a different theme each week, with topics ranging from science to art and history. Activities may include arts and crafts, sports and active play, drama, leadership and more.

Wildcard Wednesday camps are for children ages 7 to 11.

If you are looking for camps for younger children, check out our Junior Summer Discovery camps for children ages 4 to 6.

Dive in with your imaginations as we discover a fantasy world of pirates, mermaids and lost treasure. We will make eye patched and treasure maps as we learn to navigate like a pirate.

Wednesday, July 10: The earth, inside out

Have you ever wondered what lies beneath your feet? In this great introduction to geology, campers will investigate rocks and minerals to learn about the layers of the Earth and the processes that are continuing to shape it today.

Wednesday, July 17: Blast-off space camp

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond our planet? Join us for crafts and activities as we learn about constellations, design our own space ships and talk about whether aliens really exist.

Wednesday, July 24: Imagine art

Unlock your creativity in this fun day of creative expression! We will experiment with different mediums including paint, plaster, drawing and more.

What to bring

Please ensure your children come to camp prepared with snacks, drinks, water bottle, a lunch, and weather-appropriate clothing. We promote a nut-free environment.

Each child attending camp must complete and submit a personal health form. We keep this form on file and you only need to complete it once a year. Be sure to submit your health form on or before the first day of camp.

Health concerns

Please notify the instructor about any health or behavioural concerns you may have regarding your child's participation in Junior Summer Discovery. The museum has a protocol for anaphylactic shock and a parental clearance form is required if your child has suffered a suspected concussion.
