The City of Peterborough offers a wide range of recreation programs including camps, fitness, sport, swimming and so much more. Programs are organized by categories with a brief description. These programs are designed for the more active individuals of all ages and include programs such as dance and martial arts, including Ninja Academy:

Camp

Our camp programs are offered at various locations around the city, and each are designed to offer a unique experience to the children and families attending. Our summer day camps include topics such as the arts, inspiring play, science, technology and sports. On top of the summer day camp experience, we also offer camps during school board P.A. days, March break and winter holidays.

Explore

What better way to experience our world, then to explore? These programs are intended for children, youth and families to learn and grow in a wide range of themes. Our discovery kids programs include play and learn, science and technology, and the Arts, while our discovery youth focus on engagement and S.T.E.A.M. learning.

Fitness

Make a plan to move, as increasing your physical activity can lead to better physical and mental health. Our fitness programs include fitness for all ages and levels of physical abilities. We offer both land and water classes that can help you achieve your goals and if you need an extra push, our professional personal trainers can help. Find your fitness today!

Learn

Learning is a lifelong process. It enhances our understanding of the world and helps guide us to an improved quality of life. You might be interested in general themed workshops that will introduce to you a world of food or gardening. Maybe you want to achieve certifications to become a first aid responder. Perhaps you want to enter the world of babysitting. Whichever your path, our programs are designed and instructed by individuals who know their stuff!

Skate

Who says ice is just for winter!  Through our instructional skate programs, you can learn how to power skate or play hockey.  If you are looking for a way to meet new friends, join our recreational adult hockey league! We also have public skating available, including senior and holiday skates.

Splash

Make a splash! Become a lifeguard. Learn how to swim, or focus on your fitness. These programs help you enter the world of swimming, and our certified swim instructors help you start on your path. From nursery swims to leadership courses, we program for every age and ability. Swim for Life®, the Lifesaving Society’s complete learn to swim program, will help you develop important skills you will need to be safe around lakes, rivers, and pools.

Sport

Getting active through sports is a great way to meet new people and develop skill levels.  Our community programs include getting involved in sport at your comfort level. Drop in and join a pickup game, or join a recreational league with friends. You can also learn from experienced instructors and develop new skills. No matter how you join, sport can add to your championship game!

How to register

The City of Peterborough is proud to offer a variety of programs and services for people of all ages and abilities. Registering is fast and easy.

Online registration

Registration takes place on the PerfectMind Registration website. To complete registration, clients need to set up an account that can be used for all future registrations. If you would like to register for more than one program, click "book another event" to add more programs to your online cart. Payment is required at the time of registration using Visa or Mastercard.

Recreation programs can be registered in-person at the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre. Please visit the Centre's website for hours of operation.

COVID-19 protocols

COVID-19 protocols and procedures

The City of Peterborough undertakes to safeguard your child while they participate in this camp-alternative registered program. Program staff are doing the following in response to COVID-19 and to support the health of all participants and staff:

  • Program staff will complete COVID-19 screening, First Aid training, and program training prior to program start;
  • Participants will be in groups of 10 children, and 1 to 2 staff for the duration of the program;
  • Scheduled hand washing, washroom access, and physically distanced activities will happen within these groups each day;
  • Groups will remain separated from each other, and will not interact throughout the day;
  • Program equipment and touch surfaces will be disinfected between use and throughout the day;
  • Kits with personal craft equipment and supplies will be provided for each participant, for individual use for duration of their program; and
  • Washrooms will be disinfected after each use, and receive a deep-cleaning each morning

In order for this program to be successful, participants and families are asked to adhere to the following procedures and guidelines:

  • Participants are not permitted to attend the program if:
    • The participant or any family/household member has traveled outside of Canada within the last 14 days;
    • The participant or any family/household member has experienced any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 within the past 14 days;
    • The participant or any family/household member her been exposed to a person or group with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within the past 14 days; or 
    • The participant shows any signs or symptoms of any form of illness. 

Families are advised that if any non-compliance occurs at any time, admission to the program will be denied.

  • If the participant shows any signs or symptoms of illness while at the program, the family will be contact immediately by the program, and the child(ren) shall be picked up within a maximum of 30 minutes of the contact call;
  • Program staff request that all clothing and belongings are washed and/or changed each evening in preparation of the following day;
  • Participants are permitted to wear a face mask if they are tolerable for them, but face masks are not required;
  • Refunds for this program will not be provided unless the request is accompanied by a medical note.

The participant and family members will be required to follow the health and safety, physical distancing, screening and hygiene protocols of the program on a daily basis and compliance will be mandatory.

Account Credits 

Your registration account may have a credit available due to a previous program adjustment or cancellation. This credit can be used when registering for programs online. Please note, the available credit only appears on the final registration page during check out as one of the options for payment. If you would like to apply your credit, choose this option. It will then tell you the remaining amount owing if the credit does not fully cover your registration fee.
