Welcome! We are excited to have you come to Downtown Peterborough this summer. In response to COVID-19, the downtown has been redesigned with safety, accessibility, and beautification in mind. To protect the health and wellbeing of you, residents, visitors, and businesses, please follow all public health measures before, during, and after your visit. This includes:

  • Anyone feeling ill should remain at home and not go out in public. Be sure to conduct the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment at least once a day before leaving home.
  • Keep 2 metres of physical distance from anyone you don’t live with.
  • Wear a mask in any indoor area, establishment, or transit vehicle.
  • Wear a mask in any outdoor area where distancing cannot always be predictably maintained. For example, when walking on a busy sidewalk or trail, walking on the platform at the transit terminal, or waiting at a busy intersection).
  • Wash your hands when you enter and exit an establishment, or use an alcohol-based sanitizer of at least 60% if soap and water are not available.
  • Practice responsible respiratory etiquette and cough or sneeze into your sleeve.
  • Reduce personal non-essential travel.
  • Follow the provincial requirements for organized and social gathering limits.
  • Get vaccinated.
  • Download the COVID-19 Alert App. Your privacy is protected, while supporting faster contact tracing in our community.

Businesses are asked to keep sidewalks on George, Water and Charlotte streets clear of signs or other items to enhance the space for pedestrians.

The City is making the changes in collaboration with Peterborough Public Health and the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area.
