Centennial Fountain

The Centennial Fountain is located in Little Lake on the Trent Severn Waterway just upstream from Lock 19.

The fountain was installed for Canada Day 1967 to celebrate Canada's centennial birthday. The project was the result of the financial generosity of General Electric and a group of local business owners; engineering services were also provided for free by many local engineers.

Fun fountain facts

  • The fountain is composed of more than 30 tonnes of floating concrete
  • The main jet shoots water 76 m in the air, making it the highest in Canada
  • The original main jet weighed 3200 pounds and was over 122 feet long
  • The fountain is anchored by three, 1.5 tonne concrete anchors
  • At night the fountain is illuminated with over 500 LED lights

Hours of operation

The fountain operates from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. between May and October. The fountain lights turn on at 8 p.m.
