The vision and guiding principles of the Official Plan set out the policy direction for the growth and the development of the City. The vision and guiding principles reflects the community’s priorities and needs as well as various studies conducted by the City.

Public engagement and meetings

An online survey was available from August 9 to September 20, 2017 to obtain community feedback on the vision and guiding principles of the Official Plan. The vision and guiding principles reflect previous consultations with the community dating back to 2011.

On September 8, 11, and 12, 2017, the City hosted pop-up events at Fleming College and Trent University to obtain student and faculty feedback.

On April 30, 2012, Council received information on community’s vision for Peterborough based on consultation since April 2011. Details are available in Staff Report PLPD12-020.

On March 4, 2013, Council received the Potential Policy Directions Report to guide the preparation of Official Plan amendments and implement the conclusions drawn from the consultation process. Details are available in Staff Report PLPD13-014 and presentation.
