What is 211?

211 is a free, confidential telephone help line and website that connects people to social, health-related, community-based and government services in the Peterborough region and across the province.

211 helps people find services quickly and easily, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in over 150 languages.

What happens when you call 211?

When a person dials 2-1-1, they are connected with a 211 Navigator who is trained to listen and understand the full picture of the caller's unique situation and find supports and programs available to help. You can also connect with 211 services on their website which features a live chat, or by emailing 211info@communityconnection.ca.

211 Ontario is supported by the City of Peterborough, the County of Peterborough and the United Way of Peterborough and District.

Annual updates

2020

Between 2019 and 2020, reasons for 211 calls included:

  • a 165% increase in Food & Meals calls
  • a 154% increase in Income Supports & Financial Assistance calls
  • a 140% increase in Employment Services
  • a 125% increase in Mental Health & Addictions calls
