COVID-19 Update

Licensed child care centres and EarlyON programs will remain closed for the safety and protection of children, families and staff through Stage 1 of the Framework for Reopening the Province. Emergency child care will continue to operate and provide support for health care and other frontline workers. A gradual reopening of child care is expected to begin when the province is ready to transition to Stage 2 based on public health criteria, which will include robust safety protocols for the safety of Ontario's youngest learners and their staff.

If you are returning to work and not eligible for emergency child care as per the list of eligible workers, licensed home child care may be an option for you in the interim of child care centres reopening. Visit to apply for licensed childcare.

Emergency Child Care

Emergency child care services may be available for eligible workers such as Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Peterborough Public Health, long-term care facilities at no cost to parents through an emergency child care plan for provincially identified eligible workers.

There are 114 spaces available at Ministry approved licensed child care agencies for children from infants to 12 years old. To be eligible, the family must have no other option for child care.
