Though appointments are preferred, City staff will try to safely accommodate people who don’t know of the appointment requirement and arrive without an appointment.

Entrance to City Hall will be through the main, front foyer that is on the west side of the building facing George Street for all business except for Building Services. Visitors that require a barrier-free entrance are invited to use the main entrance.

Provincial Offences Office, 99 Simcoe St.

The Provincial Offences Office is open for in-person service 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Residents are encouraged to continue to pay fines and make inquiries using online and phone services available Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by phone at 705-742-7777 ext. 2099 and by email at poacourt@peterborough.ca. Fines can be paid online at www.peterborough.ca/poa.

Clerk's Office (including Commissioned documents)

Location: City Hall, 500 George St. N., Peterborough ON

Please arrive for your appointment no more than five minutes before your scheduled time. Waiting room is limited. You will check in with staff in the City Hall lobby before proceeding to your appointment.

These appointments are 15 minutes maximum and are intended to cover a variety of services including:

Commissioning documents (you need to bring valid photo ID; fee applies)
Lottery and business licences
Road closure applications
Freedom of Information requests ($5.00 fee applies)
Burial permits

Marriage Licences

Location: City Hall, 500 George St. N., Peterborough ON

Please arrive for your appointment no more than five minutes before your scheduled time.

Before your appointment:

You must fill out the marriage licence application online and send pictures of all required documents to marriage@peterborough.ca

Book your appointment. If the documents are in order we will call to confirm your appointment. If the documents are not in order we will cancel your appointment and ask you to reschedule.

What to bring:

You must bring with you the original documents (passport or birth certificate and identification documents, as well as the original signed application and any divorce documents) for both applicants to the appointment. It is preferred that only one applicant attends the meeting.

Additional information:

Your appointment will be less than half an hour if all documents are in order.
