Thank you for making an appointment for your visit to a City facility. This will help to spread out the number of residents and visitors accessing the same services at the same time and reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.

Please review the following information about how to book an appointment for various services at City Hall, as well as our COVID-19 self-screening procedures. Though appointments are preferred, City staff will try to safely accommodate people who don’t know of the appointment requirement and arrive without an appointment.

Entrance to City Hall will be through the main, front foyer that is on the west side of the building facing George Street for all business except for Infrastructure and Planning Services, which includes Building, Planning, Housing, Geomatics and Infrastructure, which will be entered though the North Wing entrance off George Street. Visitors that require a barrier-free entrance are invited to use the main entrance. All other entrances will remain closed at this time.

Provincial Offences Office, 99 Simcoe St.

The Provincial Offences Office at 99 Simcoe St. will reopen to the public on August 4, 2020 with modified in-person service hours from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Courts will remain closed for all types of trial matters and walk in guilty pleas until at least September 11, 2020. 

Residents are encouraged to continue to pay fines and make inquiries using online and phone services available Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by phone at 705-742-7777 ext. 2099 and by email at poacourt@peterborough.ca. Fines can be paid online at www.peterborough.ca/poa.

 Safety measures in place include:

  • Only one person at a time allowed in lobby for in-person matters. All others are to wait outside while maintaining the two-metre physical distance.
  • Hand sanitizer to be used before approaching the front counter.
  • Preferred method of payment for all fines is credit/debit card.

Clerk's Office (including Commissioned documents)

Location: City Hall, 500 George St. N., Peterborough ON

Please arrive for your appointment no more than five minutes before your scheduled time. Waiting room is limited. You will check in with staff in the City Hall lobby before proceeding to your appointment.

These appointments are 15 minutes maximum and are intended to cover a variety of services including:

  • Commissioning documents (you need to bring valid photo ID; fee applies)
  • Lottery and business licences
  • Road closure applications
  • Freedom of Information requests ($5.00 fee applies)
  • Burial permits

Marriage Licences

Location: City Hall, 500 George St. N., Peterborough ON

Please arrive for your appointment no more than five minutes before your scheduled time. Waiting room is limited. You will check in with staff in the City Hall lobby before proceeding to your appointment.

Before your appointment: 

You must fill out the marriage licence application online and send pictures of all required documents to marriage@peterborough.ca

Book your appointment. If the documents are in order we will call to confirm your appointment. If the documents are not in order we will cancel your appointment and ask you to reschedule.

What to bring:

You must bring with you the original documents (passport or birth certificate and identification documents, as well as the original signed application and any divorce documents) for both applicants to the appointment. It is preferred that only one applicant attends the meeting.

Additional information: 

Preference will be given to couples from the city of Peterborough in the event that spots are limited.

We would prefer if you pay by credit card or debit card, but cash is accepted.

Your appointment will be less than half an hour if all documents are in order.

Peterborough Museum and Archives

Location: 300 Hunter St. E., Peterborough ON

Book an exclusive visit to have private access to the Peterborough Museum and Archives. The maximum group size is ten people. Time slots are 50 minutes each, booked on the hour, with scheduled cleaning between visits. During your visit, you will have exclusive access to our exhibits - meaning you and those in your group will be the only visitors in the Museum!

COVID-19 self-screening

Please cancel your appointment and do no enter any City facility if:

1. You have any of the following symptoms:

  •  Fever
  •  New onset cough
  •  Worsening chronic cough
  •  Shortness of breath
  •  Difficulty breathing
  •  Sore throat
  •  Difficulty swallowing
  •  Decrease or loss of sense of taste or smell
  •  Chills
  •  Headache
  •  Unexplained fatigue, malaise, or muscle aches
  •  Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain
  •  Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
  •  Runny nose or nasal congestion without other known cause

2. Have had contact with anyone with acute respiratory illness or travelled outside of Ontario in the past 14 days.

3. Have a confirmed case of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with a person who has a probable or confirmed case of COVID-19.

If you answer yes to any of the above questions DO NOT ENTER the facility.

You must visit an assessment centre and follow their recommendations prior to entering this building. If you are experiencing severe symptoms call 911. For information about assessment centres, locations and hours please visit Peterborough Public Health or call 705-876-5086.
