The Urban Forestry summer student will assist Urban Forestry staff in the delivery of Urban Forestry programs and activities in a physical and administrative capacity. Duties will include tree inventory in parks and along road allowances, assisting with the various projects relating to Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan, data collection, public education and outreach regarding the benefits of trees and the Urban Forest Canopy for the Infrastructure & Planning Division. 


We require an individual who is currently enrolled in a post secondary school education in the field of Forestry, Urban Forestry or a related discipline. Experience in tree inventory, tree identification, GIS Databases, ArcMap, general understanding of municipal tree bylaws, records management, proficient with the use of computers and current related software (excel and word). Interact with the public including a willingness to participate in public education and related committee assignments. Candidate must be able to work outdoors in various site conditions/inclement weather and have access to reliable transportation in order to carry out assigned duties.
