Job Details

The Summer Programs Coordinator will provide leadership to Day Camp and Park Staff, student program volunteers, and all registered and drop-in child and youth participants of the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre’s Summer Day camp locations, and the Junior Park Program at various city park sites.  They will be responsible for the administrative side of the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre Summer Day Camp and Junior Park Play Program daily operations, as well as camper care and supervision, participant engagement, support and supervision of staff and volunteers at various sites and programs. The Coordinator will work to provide direction and be responsible for supplies and spaces used by the programs. They will organize staff schedules and facility and park program schedules and communicate with other full-time staff and City departments about programming needs. The Coordinator will facilitate preseason training, staff meetings and evaluations, program budget preparation, research initiatives, marketing, customer service, leadership initiatives, and other requirements of the position. 


We require candidates with experience working with children in a day camp, recreational program, or sport setting and who demonstrate enthusiasm and a team approach to delivering quality children’s programming.  The candidates should have experience supervising other staff or volunteers in an employed or volunteer position. HIGH FIVE® Certification would be an asset but is not required of applicants.  Successful candidates will be required to obtain the training and will be supported in obtaining the certification.  As a condition of hire, candidates will also be required to complete Standard First Aid & Level C CPR/AED training and provide a criminal record clearance with vulnerable sector check prior to their employment start date.

Hours of work are anticipated to vary and will not exceed 40 hours/week. Staff are required to be available to work Monday-Friday starting June 1 up to and including the Labour Day weekend. This vacancy is contingent based on COVID provincial and local public health restrictions and guidelines and the ability to run programs and/or office closures.  Every effort will be made to keep you up to date with details.
