The Art Gallery of Peterborough is a non-profit public gallery and gathering place that engages the community and promotes the arts as a cornerstone of community creativity and development.

The AGP Summer Art Educator will develop and deliver creative arts programming and group activities for children enrolled in the Art Gallery of Peterborough’s Summer Art camps. The AGP Summer Art Educator is responsible for ensuring a safe, creative, and positive learning environment for all campers, and creating programs that strongly relate to contemporary and art historical movements, themes and techniques based on the summer camp programming schedule outlined by the Education Programming Coordinator.

The Summer Art Camp Educator must be available to work 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, from June 27 to August 26, 2022.


The ideal candidate will have proven experience in developing and delivering educational programming for children ages 4-12. Candidates must have the knowledge and experience typically associated with a completed Bachelor of Education and/or a 4-year post-secondary degree in fine arts with a minimum of 1-2 years previous on-the-job teaching experience.   Candidates will demonstrate a strong visual arts background and good working knowledge of contemporary and historical Canadian Art, including Inuit and First Nations; experience developing and leading arts-based programming. The candidate will demonstrate a passion for the arts and arts education; have excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, along with confidence and sensitivity working with children, adolescents, and adults are essential.

Candidates must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Check and Standard First Aid and Level “C” CPR training; AED Certificate an asset. Must also successfully complete the City of Peterborough WHMIS and AODA training.
