Speaking to Council

Helping make decisions

As part of our commitment to open and accessible government, Council encourages public participation in the decision making process.

Speaking at Council meetings - during an emergency (COVID-19)

Requests to be a Delegation

  1. Starting January 2021, Council meetings will be held electronically.
  2. Each delegation is permitted to speak for 5 minutes.
  3. Meetings of Council are live streamed and the video file is archived to enable you to watch the proceedings post-meeting.

Requests to speak can be made by submitting the Delegation Request Form. The day of the meeting we will contact you to confirm your registration and provide your speaking order. You will call in to the meeting to speak to Council.

The phone number you provide to us must be from the phone you use to call. Using a different phone to call in to the Council meeting will not allow us to recognize you as a registered delegation (as we identify you by your phone number) and you will miss your opportunity to speak.

If you have any questions, please contact the Clerk's Office at 705-742-7777 ext. 1820.

Other ways to contact Council

A delegation is not the only way to reach Council members and let them know how you feel about an issue. You can telephone or email your interests or concerns directly to Council. This method allows much more detailed information to be provided for reference. You are also welcome to provide written comments to the Clerk's Office or the Mayor's office and we will ensure your comments are forwarded to Council members.
