Job Details

The Public Works Labourers will assist in a variety of assignments such as: traffic control, sidewalk construction, asphalt repair, road/boulevard repair, grass cutting, weeding and horticultural duties.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Completion of an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Licenses:
    • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license.
    • Ability to obtain a valid City Driving Permit.
    • Clear driver’s abstract required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Understanding of related work procedures in specified areas.
    • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Health & Safety Training:
    • Training and experience in Traffic Control Book 7, WHMIS, and Health and Safety practices are considered assets.
    • Standard First Aid/CPR/AED certification is an asset.
  • Police Check: Satisfactory and current Police Criminal Record Check from a Canadian Police Information Centre required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to climbing, standing, sitting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
