The Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, a joint partnership between the City of Peterborough and Fleming College, is a community based recreation centre offering fitness and aquatics programs and services.  The Lifeguard and Swimming Instructors at the Centre will be responsible for pool safety, providing customer service to patrons in the Aquatics Centre in addition to conducting basic pool maintenance, including water testing.  The position will involve administrative tasks related to the delivery of swimming instructional programming. 


This position requires current and valid National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification, Red Cross and Lifesaving Society Instructors certification and Standard First Aid and Level “C” CPR and AED certifications.  The successful candidates will have exceptional customer service skills in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills.  This position requires the ability to be flexible and problem solve in a fast paced environment. Experience working with children in a pool environment would be preferred.

These positions will have flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings and weekends. This vacancy is contingent based on COVID provincial restrictions and guidelines and the ability to run programs and/or office closures.  Every effort will be made to keep you up to date with details.


Lifeguarding rate: $15.88/hr, Instructor rate: $16.14/hr, Head Lifeguard/Instructor: $16.65/hr
