Job Details

The main objective of this position is to re-examine and re-think what and how we identify, commemorate and understand our shared history in the context of the city of Peterborough through the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion.


The ideal candidate for this position will be pursuing a degree or diploma in History, Art History, Indigenous Studies, Canadian Studies, International Development, or a related field. The candidate will have excellent research and writing skills, will have good oral communication and organizational skills, as well as intersectional experience that relates to the project goals and objectives. Experience in applying a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion in a community setting would be considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have an interest in heritage preservation, and community development and a keen interest in researching and presenting the history of marginalized and underrepresented groups. This position requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software. This position will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from May 1, 2023 - August 18, 2023.

To be an eligible candidate, as stipulated by the granting agency, Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions, the applicant must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada, be legally entitled to work in Canada, be between the ages of 16 and 30, and be registered as a full-time student, intending to return to studies in the Fall of 2023.

This position is subject to grant funding approval. Applicants will be required to register with the Young Canada Works online candidate inventory

Hourly Rate: $17.14
