Financial Analyst, Social Services - Temporary (2 years)

Job Details

The focus and main duties of the Financial Analyst, Social Services will be to provide financial and statistical analysis, advice and recommendations to City Social Services division with respect to budgeting, forecasting and business plans; conduct program reviews, analyze and report variances, recommend appropriate actions to division management; act as lead with Social Services division managers in development and preparation of annual operating budgets; ensure integrity of financial and statistical information for internal and external financial reporting; act as liaison between Social Services division and Financial Services division; act as financial liaison between Social Services and Provincial Ministries,  and outside agencies.


Requires an individual who has a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA); minimum of five (5) years financial experience in a multi-divisional organization including experience in the areas of budget development, accounting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial performance indicators and management reporting; knowledge of municipal fund accounting, Provincial funding reporting.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience related to child care and early years funding and services. Requires technical proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and experience with an ERP such as SAP would be an asset; requires advanced interpersonal and communication (verbal, written, and presentation) skills to build effective relationships within the corporation,  work  collaboratively with child care and early years’ service providers and work independently on complex and diversified projects.  Must have successful facilitation and negotiation skills; must have highly developed analytical and conceptual skills to identify and resolve complex financial problems; requires the ability to interpret, analyze, and disseminate financial information; must have a service-oriented approach to finance.
