Extra Board Operator - Bus Driver

Peterborough Transit is proud to serve the citizens of Peterborough in addition to The Link rural transit service, a pilot project funded through the Province of Ontario. The Link buses serve the communities of Selwyn Township, Curve Lake First Nation, and connect all customers to the City’s transit routes.
Job Details
Bus Drivers are responsible for operating regular, fully accessible transit buses and paratransit vehicles for customers with mobility needs. Drivers support customers as a first point of contact to provide information on bus routes, schedules, and fares etc.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are at least 18 years old with a positive attitude and experience serving the public who possess:

Ability to read, understand and follow policies and procedures

A valid Ontario drivers’ license (other than G1, G2, M, M1 or M2)

Ability to provide a clear driver’s abstract and a satisfactory current Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector from a Canadian Police Information Centre

Availability and commitment to work irregular shifts which will include days, nights, weekends, split shifts, statutory holidays and working on short notice
Additional assets:

Standard First Aid/CPR/AED certification

A valid Ontario Class “B” or “C” driver’s license with “Z” endorsement (Air Brake)

Salary
$25.55 (Training Rate $22.36)
Although Extra Board Operators regularly work full-time hours, there is a guaranteed minimum of 25 hours per week. Overtime is available after 44 hours at time and a half and Extra Board Operators are paid the full-time rate of $31.94/hour, when they are assigned to cover full-time Drivers.
Extra Board Operators are assigned one (1) week day off a week.
Extra Board Operators are members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1320 and transition to full time Driver positions in order of seniority, at which time group health benefits and pension are provided.
