Job Details

Responsible for co-ordinating and preparing documents for meetings of Advisory and Council Committees; co-ordinating public delegations, attending meetings, composing minutes, resolutions, by-laws and reports.  Maintain records of Council and Committee decisions.  Liaise with other departments, advising the public and staff of Council and Committee decisions and providing information and guidance on Committee and Council procedures and decisions.  Act as backup to the Deputy Clerk for all statutory functions under the various Acts, Statutes, and Regulations.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience normally associated with a university degree or equivalent in business, public administration or related field.  Must have a minimum of three years experience working in a municipal Clerk’s Office or municipal environment including demonstrated Council secretariat experience.  Currently possesses or has ability to obtain relevant credentials through the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO).

The successful candidate of this position must possess demonstrated competencies of customer focus, results oriented, integrity, continuous improvement and teamwork; proven interpersonal and communication (verbal, written, and presentation) skills;  strong relationship skills to gain the cooperation of others and build confidence among staff, peers, City Council, and the community; the ability to support positive work relationships in a unionized environment.  Must have excellent analytical, problem-solving, administrative, and research skills.  Must have working knowledge of the Municipal Act, other relevant legislation, meeting processes and procedural matters.  Experience required in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software applications.  Familiarity with electronic agenda building software an asset. The incumbent must demonstrate attention to accuracy and detail, in a time sensitive environment, possess excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize workload, to problem solve and to adapt to frequent interruptions, changing priorities and conflicting demands.  Election experiences would be considered an asset.  Must have access to reliable transportation for travel related to corporate business and the availability and flexibility to attend evening meetings as required.

Salary

$86,674.00-$94,740.00
