Job Details

The Arena Labourers assist with ice maintenance and facility cleaning and maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, painting, and minor repairs to various components of the building. This position also provides customer service to facility users and the public by handling general inquiries and assisting with set ups and facility rentals.

Qualifications

We require individuals who have a minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent in addition to have excellent verbal communication skills, effective customer relation skills and who are trustworthy and dependable. The Labourer position requires up to six (6) months labouring experience including knowledge of proper cleaning procedures as well as maintenance and physical labour practices. Candidates must have experience and knowledge of proper work procedures including familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).  Preference will be given to candidates with current First Aid//CPR/AED Certification.

Shifts will involve evenings and weekends to a maximum of 24 hours per week.  Shifts start and end times will vary.  Early shifts include 6:00 a.m. start times and evening shifts include 1:00 a.m. end times (or later for special events).

The nature of this work is primarily seasonal and dependent on operational needs. This position requires that the incumbent wear work boots at all times (to be purchased at own expense). Additional uniform components will be provided. Successful candidates will also be required to provide a current criminal reference check with vulnerable sector check, as a condition of employment offer.  The check will be completed at the candidates own expense.
