Ward Boundary Review

The City of Peterborough Municipal Election Staff seeks public feedback on proposed changes to the electoral ward boundaries in the City.

The City currently has five wards: Otonabee (Ward 1), Monaghan (Ward 2), Town (Ward 3), Ashburnham (Ward 4) and Northcrest (Ward 5). Two Councillors are elected per ward and the Mayor is elected at large. This governance model would not change as part of the ward boundary review.

Over the years, the wards have experienced population growth and boundary expansion due to development and annexation. A ward boundary review is required to equalize the number of electors in each ward to ensure effective representation.

City staff are seeking feedback on three proposed options and will be hosting meetings on the following dates:

Monday, July 17, 2017(4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.) City Hall Main Lobby

Thursday, August 24, 2017(2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) City Hall Council Chambers

Thursday, September 7, 2017(6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) City Hall Council Chambers

Election Staff will also be available in the main lobby of City Hall every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning on July 19th to September 6th, 2017 to answer questions and hear your feedback.

If you cannot attend in person, an online survey can be completed or you can call 705-742-7777 extension 1883. The online survey will be available until September 8, 2017.
