Compliance Audit Committee

Residents of the City of Peterborough are invited to apply for a position with the Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee. The term corresponds with the next term of Council, beginning December 1, 2018 and ending November 14, 2022. 

The Committee will address requests for an audit of a candidate's or third party advertiser's election campaign finances and to consider reports from the Clerk citing apparent contraventions to contribution limits. 

The Committee's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Review applications and grant or reject audit requests
  • Where an audit is granted, appoint an auditor and review the audit report
  • Determine if it is necessary to commence legal proceedings

Committee members must have the ability to understand and apply the election campaign provisions of the Municipal Election Act, 1996 while conducting themselves in an impartial manner. Preference will be given to candidates that have acceptable experience in accounting, law, law enforcement, the municipal sector, academics, and related fields.
