These traps are an important part of our detection strategy to identify when and where the beetle is found in the City. When finds are confirmed they will continue to help in estimating EAB population densities and spread throughout the City.

Monitoring and Assessment

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency ( CFIA ) no longer provides insect traps within the City for EAB monitoring purposes. During 2015 thirty traps were deployed at strategic locations by the City and 4 of these had positive finds of EAB. The City will continue to deploy and monitor these traps as part of the on-going assessment of the EAB infestation in the City.
