Professional Development, Hospitality and Related Travel Expenses

On March 22, 2010, Council approved an updated policy for Professional Development, Travel and Hospitality Expenses and Reimbursement. The policy statement reads as follows:

"The City of Peterborough supports the professional development and training of Members of Council, Advisory Committees and staff. Further it recognizes the benefit to the citizens of Peterborough of attending such meetings as are appropriate for furthering of the positions of the Municipality."

Council made a further commitment to post expenses on-line that meet certain eligibility criteria as a means of providing the public with additional information on the costs related to such travel events.

The criteria for posting claim forms for Professional Development, Travel and Hospitality Expenses on-line for both Council and staff are as follows:
  1. The event occurs after May 1, 2010 and takes place outside the City of Peterborough, 
  2. The event is related to Professional Development, Training, or Hospitality, 
  3. The total cost of the event exceeds $200.
To view the claim forms that meet the above criteria, choose the Department, then Division of interest, this will lead to a list of dates, event names and position titles of the attending persons. Click on the link you have chosen and all of the related claim forms of the chosen event will appear.
