Airport Development Capital Project

At its meeting held May 26, 2008, Council adopted a number of recommendations in staff report PLPD08-044 regarding the Airport Development, including one that established a multi-year Airport Development Program 2008-2013 and directed staff to pursue all opportunities for Federal and Provincial Infrastructure Funding.

Infrastructure Stimulus Fund Airport Major Infrastructure Capital Project

On October 16, 2009, it was announced the City’s $21.0 Million Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF) application to undertake the Airport Major Infrastructure Project, was approved, and the Federal and Provincial governments would each contribute $7.0 Million to match the City’s $7.0 Million.

At its meeting held October 26, 2009, Council adopted a number of recommendations stemming from Report CPFPRS09-034 dated October 19, 2009. Recommendations (a) and (b) of report CPFPRS09-034 established the $21.0 Million ISF Airport Major Infrastructure Capital Project and amended the initial Airport Development Project to reflect a $7.6 Million budget. The combined projects total $28.6 Million, and the City’s share of the combined projects is $14.6 Million.
