Celebrate at Home!

The City of Peterborough has initiated a special project committee to plan and coordinate community events, with a special focus on Canada 150th celebrations. The Canada’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations Committee has been meeting since March
2016 and is planning four days of celebrations running Thursday, June 29 to Sunday, July 2, 2017.

The committee will be working closely with established Canada Day events such as Peterborough Musicfest, the Canada Day Parade and the New Canadians Centre Multicultural Festival, which already bring out the crowds by the thousands. But special to the 150th milestone will be an extra three days of fanfare involving a partnership with the DBIA to host two days of local music and celebrations downtown and a partnership with Parks Canada and the Peterborough Museum & Archives to host a day of free family-oriented events with a strong historical and cultural flair.

Free Peterborough Transit Service will be available July 1st.  The Transportation for “Celebrate at Home” media release provides details on transit, parking and road closures.

Canada’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations Committee and the New Canadians Centre would like to remind the public about the by-laws for Del Crary Park.  Del Crary Park is a Smoke Free Park with designated smoking areas. Dogs are not permitted in this park.
