Spring Environment Day 2017

Event date: Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

The Waste Management Division will be hosting Environment Day on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 2150 Ashburnham Drive (Eastgate Park parking lot).

All items will be accepted FREE of charge (from households only, no businesses please).

New this year:

  • Textiles - old and new, worn and torn. Clothing, footwear, purses, drapes, stuffed toys and more. Please bag your items. 

Other accepted items:

  • Bulk plastics- laundry baskets, patio furniture, toys, kiddy pools, garbage cans and more. No metal or other non-plastic attachments. 
  • Multi-Media - audio and video cassettes, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records
  • Children's car seats 
  • Hard-covered Books - we will remove the covers for you
  • Scrap Metal - No Freon items accepted i.e. air conditioners, fridges, dehumidifiers, water coolers
  • Electronics – computers, hand-held electronics, televisions, digital cameras, printers
  • Appliances with cords - toasters, hair dryers, lamps, electric tools, etc.
  • Single Use Batteries 

Items that will NOT be accepted:

  • No vinyl siding, blinds, hoses or tarps
  • No wood products, carpet, furniture, construction and demolition debris, tire, glass, mirrors, weapons or fiberglass items
  • No hazerdous waste including paint, oil, light bulbs, propane tanks, pharmaceuticals or explosives  
  • No styrofoam 
  • No automobile batteries

Added services:   

  • Special pricing on blue boxes, “Blue in the Loo” and composters (cash only)
  • Peterborough and Northumberland Crime Stoppers will be offering free paper shredding (donations gratefully accepted)
