Notice of Public Information Centre # 2: Bethune Street Project

Event date: Thursday, July 07, 2016, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Location: Holiday Inn Peterborough-Waterfront

The Project
The City of Peterborough (City) and its consultant (AECOM), in accordance with the recommendations of the Municipal Class EA study completed in 2014, have initiated the detailed design and contract administration for the Jackson Creek Flood Diversion sewer, as well as sanitary sewer upgrades, from Dalhousie Street to Dublin Street, to accommodate growth in the north end of the City. These construction activities present an opportunity for the complete reconstruction of all surface features on the Bethune Street corridor and a portion of Charlotte and Townsend Streets. As such, a detailed plan for the reconstruction of Bethune Street and the effected portions of Charlotte and Townsend Streets is being developed to establish a vision for the project area. In addition, a Land Use Planning and Urban Design Study is being completed to understand current and future conditions and support explorations to develop a context-sensitive streetscape plan and create positive urban spaces and transitions to surrounding areas while integrating other community needs in the area along Bethune Street.

Purpose of Public Information Centre #2
You are invited to attend an evening public meeting on Thursday, July 7, 2016. The purpose of the meeting is to consider Land Use and Urban Design/Development Alternatives for the Bethune Street corridor, including variation in building height, massing, land uses, private parking, and the relationship between buildings and the reconstructed street. The meeting will begin with a presentation of alternatives and be followed by small group facilitated discussions.

The second PIC has been scheduled as follows:
